Shyness

Traditionally, men aren’t supposed to get shy – they‘re expected to be confident, up for it and out there always. But most men know this is a big fat lie. According to recent social surveys, modern males can be just as sensitive, reactive and insecure as the opposite sex – which is probably one reason why the new generation of men finds it easier to relate to and understand women than most of their father could ever hope to. One recent survey of Italian men, who are traditionally seen as sexually upfront and thoroughly opportunistic, found two-thirds, reported they felt too shy and too insecure about their bodies on the beach to chat up attractive women, and over half said they worried constantly about being had given the brush-off. The same survey also found one in three only went to a beach to sunbathe and would much rather read a book, hide behind their designer shades and listen to their iPod than risk talking to strange girls.
